ALL-INDIA CONSUMER PRICE INDEX NUMBERS FOR AGRICULTURAL

AND RURAL LABOURERS ON BASE 1986-87=100 DECEMBER-2014

 1.         The All-India Consumer Price Index Numbers for Agricultural Labourers and Rural Labourers (Base: 1986-87=100) for December, 2014 decreased by 6 points each to stand at 807  (Eight hundred and seven) points and 810 (Eight hundred and ten) points respectively.

2.         The fall/rise in index varied from State to State. In case of Agricultural Labourers, it recorded a decrease between 2 to 19 points in 15 States whereas in 5 States, it recorded an increase between 1 to 7 points.  Haryana with 894 points topped the index table whereas Himachal Pradesh with the index level of 655 points stood at the bottom.

3.         In case of Rural Labourers, it recorded a decrease between 2 to 19 points in 14 States and an increase between 1 to 6 points in 4 States while it remained stationary in 2 States.  Haryana with 889 points topped the index table whereas Himachal Pradesh with the index level of 691 points stood at the bottom.

4.         Bihar State for Agricultural Labourers and Rural Labourers registered the maximum decrease of 19 points each due to decrease in the prices of rice, wheat-atta, fish fresh, chillies green, vegetables & fruits, gur and toddy.  Tamilnadu State for Agricultural Labourers and Rural Labourers registered the maximum increase of 7 points and 6 points mainly due to increase in the prices of jowar, fish fresh, onion, vegetables & fruits, milk, chillies green, mixed spices, tea readymade, bidi, cigarette, firewood, washing soap and barber charges.

5.         Point to point rate of inflation based on the CPI-AL and CPI-RL increased from 4.63% and 5.02% in November, 2014 to 5.49% and 5.74% in December, 2014. Inflation based on food index of CPI-AL and CPI-RL is 3.99% and 4.38% respectively during December, 2014.
