ALL-INDIA CONSUMER PRICE INDEX NUMBERS FOR AGRICULTURAL

AND RURAL LABOURERS ON BASE 1986-87=100 APRIL-2015

 

1.         The All-India Consumer Price Index Numbers for Agricultural Labourers and Rural Labourers (Base: 1986-87=100) for April, 2015 increased by 2 points each to stand at 805 (Eight hundred and five) points and 809 (Eight hundred and nine) points respectively.

2.         The rise/fall in index varied from State to State. In case of Agricultural Labourers, it recorded an increase between 1 to 10 points in 15 States and a decrease between 1 to 3 points in 4 States while it remained stationary in 1 State.  Haryana with 904 points topped the index table whereas Himachal Pradesh with the index level of 661 points stood at the bottom.

3.         In case of Rural Labourers, it recorded an increase between 1 to 11 points in 13 States and a decrease between 1 to 3 points in 4 States while it remained stationary in 3 States.  Haryana with 901 points topped the index table whereas Himachal Pradesh with the index level of 694 points stood at the bottom.

4.         The Consumer Price Index Numbers for Agricultural Labourers and Rural Labourers in respect of Meghalaya State registered the maximum increase of 10 and 11 points respectively due to rise in the prices of rice, meat goat, beef, poultry, fish fresh/dry, chillies green, vegetables & fruits, tea readymade, pan leaf, firewood, washing soap and barber charges. Whereas the Index of Himachal Pradesh State for Agricultural Labourers and the index of Tripura State for Rural Labourers registered the maximum decrease of 3 points each mainly due to fall in the prices of rice, wheat-atta, mustard oil, vanaspati, onion, mixed spices and gur.

5.         Point to point rate of inflation based on the CPI-AL and CPI-RL decreased from 5.24% and 5.49% in March, 2015 to 4.41% and 4.66% in April, 2015. Inflation based on food index of CPI-AL and CPI-RL is 2.80% and 3.05% respectively during April, 2015.
